About William Morrison
Dr. William Morrison has been in academic medicine for over 25 years, specializing in musculoskeletal imaging and intervention. He currently holds appointments as Professor of Radiology and Director of Musculoskeletal Radiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He is also a consultant for the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, Sixers and the Pennsylvania Ballet.
Passionate about problem-solving and medical device development, Dr. Morrison developed the first steerable needle enabling active guidance around objects within the body. He has three patents for interventional radiology medical devices and is co-founder of Trace Orthopedics, the first device for tendon reattachment that does not require surgery.
Dr. Morrison has co-authored or co-edited 13 textbooks, written over 80 book chapters, and has published over 160 peer-reviewed research articles. He also served on the editorial board for several organizations and publications, including the American Journal of Roentgenology, Radiology and Skeletal Radiology. Dr. Morrison is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology (FACR) and past president of the Society of Skeletal Radiology, a 2000-member organization that represents musculoskeletal radiology in North America.
